Most of my political views lately have been anti-Republican. Not because I disagree with the basic philosophy of the Republican platform, but because most of the people that make up the politicians are dishonest about the reasons. They are playing a game.... Grover has them sign a pledge that even he doesn't believe. No new taxes! No old taxes! No taxes period! For that matter, let's just have total free market with no regulation. That worked so well under Bush. When I played in big corporate life, the division president loved to quote the golden rule: He who has the gold, rules!...
I'm all for a balanced budget..... I'm even for no taxes. But in the end, as a society based in Christianity, we have to step up to the plate and even out the field and do what is morally right, not what is within the letter of the law. Are we our brothers keepers? Do we follow the 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you' golden rule or do unto others before they do it unto you!
What I think it boils down to is what Troy and I call the pie, the whole pie and nothing but the pie...... there are two basic groups in business - the ones who believe there is only one pie and if you are getting some of it, then they are getting less. It is their lot in life to take as much of it from you as they can...... Then there is the group we belong to: There are millions of pies. There is plenty to go around for all of us. We can each have our own pie....we can have more than one pie.
Which do you believe?

numero uno
Been letting Troy do most of the 'writing' on Junk Exchange..... he is by far the better skilled. His talent is in weaving and telling stories. My style is more from a soapbox. Didn't use to be that way.... was kind of quiet, blended in. Let others take the stage. The older I get, the more opinionated I become. Have gotten more political. My favorite TV shows have gone from sitcoms and CSI types to news and commentary.

The name - Deux Over. Describes what our philosophy has become. Re-purpose, re-direct, re-think, re-view. After all, who among us hasn't at some point wished for a do-over.
My Dad and his Dad, always worked with their hands. My Dad was a draftsman, carpenter homebuilder. My Grandfather memories were always from his house in the country, where I would help him in the summer with a huge garden. My Mom always worked around the house - sewing and baking and from November on, in the kitchen making incredible holiday treats for family and friends. Her Mom was a great cook too. My step-Grandfather was a home-builder. Not any wonder I have always LOVED food and building things with my hands.
My Dad as a boy
One of my Dad's best pieces of advice to me: If you want to make other people happy, don't rock the boat. If you want to make yourself happy, you can't help but rock the boat.
More soon.
